Release Roundup: October 10, 2025
Happy Friday folks, I thought I’d share some quick thoughts on the albums and singles I’ve been spinning this week. Here are 3 albums and a batch of singles to enjoy this weekend:
Albums
Coastlands - Coastlands (Post-Metal, Post-Rock, Shoegaze)
Absolute slammer of a record. From their beginnings in post-rock and a more recent shift to post-metal, this self-titled is the first to feature full vocals for the band. Coastlands have always entered new territory with each release, and this album’s shoegaze influence should speak to any metalheads who like the genre. Calling all Holy Fawn fans to check this one out.
Dust - Sky is Falling (Punk, Post-Punk, Alternative)
This is the debut LP from Australia-based post-punk group Dust, who I was keen on new tunes from after hearing “trust U see” last year. This isn’t usually my kind of thing, but the added saxophone and dizzying compositions makes this band a standout in the punk space as far as I’m concerned. They hopefully gathered some good buzz opening for Interpol, but everyone should give this new album a go if you’re looking for something fresh and new in your music listening.
Project: Heavensent - 4940 Days (Post-Hardcore, Post-Metal, Alternative)
Another powerhouse of a record coming from Australia, this time from solo musician Project: Heavensent. From our recent interview, the album is centered around ending ties with a significant other. I’ve also found it to be about losing your sense of self in the process, and what it means to overcome amidst personal loss. This also serves as the first full vocals release from the artist, with romantic lyricism driving home the intimate messages of the album.
Singles
Bvdub - One More Try (I) (Ambient, Drone, Minimal)
Bvdub has been dropping weekly singles since the beginning of 2025. I check it out every week, and am always impressed with his unique flare to the genre. When will the full album come out???
R.A.P. Ferriera & Kenny Segal - By The Head (Rap, Hip-Hop, Underground)
R.A.P. and Kenny have worked previously on So The Flies Don’t Come and Purple Moonlight Pages. Now viewed as a trilogy with their new record out this October, we have a single out showcasing the eclectic stylings from the duo. R.A.P. has been a favorite of mine, and his consistency among releases is always notable, as well as his personality and mentality around his space of rhythm and poetry. And it is poetry when this man grabs a mic, and especially when Kenny composes the tunes.
Tigran Hamasyan - War Time Poem (Jazz Fusion, Jazz, Rock)
Tigran is back with another amazing fusion of jazz piano and rock/metal. What more could you ask for? Oh, you’re asking for Matt Garstka on drums? Done.
Please check out and consider supporting the artists above if you liked what you heard!
